Monona Terrace, looking out over a frozen Lake Monona in Madison, WI.
Built after his death in 1990-1996, the 1938 design was originally rejected by one vote and continued to fall prey to circumstances such as the start of WWII. Arguments against its construction included cost and the fact it would obstruct the view of the lake from the State Capitol building.
Interior designed by one of Wright’s apprentices, Anthony Puttnam.
